Heute bin ich zur Melbourne Universität gefahren um mich über ein Medizinstudium in Australien zu informieren. Sieht nicht so rosig aus. 🙁

Aufgrund meiner mittelmäßigen österreichischen Matura, welche ich ohne die Fächer Chemie, Biologie oder Physik abgeschlossen habe, müsste ich ein 3-jähriges Bachelor-Studium in Biomedizin, oder  einen Bachelor of Science mit einem gewissen Schwerpunkt machen bevor ich mich überhaupt für das 4-jährige Medizinstudium bewerben kann. Darüber hinaus muss ich mich für das 3-jährige Studium auch bewerben und gewisse Kriterien erfüllen.

Weiters müsste ich in Melbourne auch noch die Kosten des Studiums beachten, welche zwischen 3000-6000€ im Jahr sind, je nach Studium.  In Betracht gezogen, dass ich nicht ewig mit meiner Großmutter wohnen kann/will 😛 würden irgendwann noch Wohnkosten dazu kommen, etc.

Ich denke, ich muss froh sein, dass in Österreich das Studium kostenlos ist und ich „nur“ 6 Jahre für das Studium aufbringen muss. Jetzt muss ich mich nur noch richtig auf den Aufnahmetest vorbereiten!! Vielleicht kann ich ja ein Auslandssemester o.Ä. machen. Mal schauen, was noch auf mich zu kommt 🙂

I went to Melbourne University today, to get information about the studies of medicine here. Doesn’t look too promising 🙁

Because of my moderate austrian matriculation, and the missing subjects of chemistry, biology and physics, I have to do a 3-year undergraduate study in either biomedicine or the Bachelor of Science with a certain major subject before possibly getting into the 4-year Doctor of Medicine studies. Furthermore I will have to apply for the 3-year course and fulfill certain requirements, which I don’t know if I do.

The next thing is, that I would have to think about would be the payment of my studies, which are annually between 5.000-10.000 AU$. Taking into consideration, that I can’t/do not want to live with my grandmother for ever, would add even more stress to the wallet.

I think, i have to be glad, that studying is costfree in Austria and I will „only“ spend 6 years on becoming a doctor. I just have to prepare properly for the entry exam.  Maybe I can do a semester abroad or something. Let’s see what awaits me 🙂
