<\/a><\/p>\nDanach noch eine 2,5h Fahrt nach Halls Gap im Grampians National Park, Zelt aufgestellt, Karten gespielt und ab in den Schlafsack.<\/p>\n
Sonntag 16. Februar 2014<\/p>\n
Nach einer regnerischen Nacht fahren wir zum n\u00e4chsten Infozentrum, denn angeblich sind die McKensie Falls wegen der Buschfeuer gesperrt. Die Ger\u00fcchte bewahrheiten sich. Wir wollen aber trotzdem wissen, wie schlimm es ist und fahren bis zur Stra\u00dfensperre hinauf. Schon auf dem Weg dorthin zeigt sich ein Bild der Zerst\u00f6rung\u00a0alle B\u00e4ume sind schwarz und \u00fcberall liegen abgebrannte Baumst\u00e4mme herum. \u00a0Nur die Stra\u00dfe dient als Grenze f\u00fcr das Feuer.\u00a0Wir treffen einen Parkranger, welcher uns erkl\u00e4rt, dass bei den McKensie Falls noch immer Feuer ist und dass so ein Feuer bis zu drei Monaten in den B\u00e4umen erhalten bleiben kann.<\/p>\n
Dann gehts mit meiner Cousine und zwei ihrer Freunde, welche f\u00fcr den Tag nach Halls Gap gekommen sind, zu den Silverband Falls, damit wir zumindest einen kleinen Wasserfall gesehen haben.<\/p>\n Zuf\u00e4llig ist heute eine Oldtimershow in Halls Gap, welches als nettes Alternativprogramm zu den Wasserf\u00e4llen dient.<\/p>\n Dann noch ein Abstecher in den nahegelegenen Zoo, in dem ich endlich einen Koala sehe und K\u00e4nguruhs f\u00fcttern kann und dann geht’s schon ab nach Warrnambool f\u00fcr die Nacht.<\/p>\n Montag 17. Februar 2014<\/p>\n Ein letztes Mal das Zelt eingepackt, geduscht, gefr\u00fchst\u00fcckt und schon geht\u2019s ab zur Great Ocean Road. Ein Stopp nach dem anderen. Eine Unzahl an bekannten Bays oder Aussichtspunkten. Jede einzelne mit ihrer eigenen Geschichte. So sind wir von Bay zu Bay gefahren und haben \u00fcber die alten Seefahrer diskutiert und Geschichten erfunden. Einen l\u00e4ngeren Stop haben wir beim Loch Ard Goch gemacht, bei dem wir einen Spaziergang gemacht haben und eine H\u00f6hle erforscht haben.<\/p>\n Danach sind wir zu den Twelve Apostels gefahren und haben uns in die Badesachen geschmissen. Die Leute, die an uns vorbei gegangen sind haben uns alle angeschaut und ich hab ein paar Leute ganz geschockt fragen h\u00f6ren: Gehen die da jetzt schwimmen???<\/p>\n Wir haben dann unser Foto bei den TA gemacht und sind dann relativ bald in die Bay ein paar 100 Meter weiter gefahren, da zu viele Touristen bei den TA waren. Dort sind wir dann ins Wasser gekommen. Das Wasser war kalt und die Wellen waren stark, aber es war das Erlebnis wert \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n Und dann war’s auch schon wieder fast vorbei unser Wochenende. Noch eine fast drei st\u00fcndige Fahrt nach Hause, ausgepackt und schlafen gegangen.<\/p>\n Ich hab das Wochenende wirklich genossen! War sch\u00f6n mit meiner Cousine etwas Zeit zu verbringen, da ich sie ja sonst nie sehe und auch noch nicht wirklich gekannt habe.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saturday February 15th 2014 After that we get to see an old candle manufactory and then we go under ground. We get a guided tour through the gold mine and learn about mining back in the old days. Back on the surface we get to experience a presentation of a, back then, revolutionary invention and then we go to the gold smelter. Sitting there, I remember beeing here in 2001, where we watched the guy transforming liquid gold into a gold bar. This small bar is pretty heavy and is worth about 150.000 AU$ (100.000\u20ac).<\/p>\n After that it takes us 2,5 hours to get to Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park. We build up our tent, play cards and go to bed.<\/p>\n Sunday February 16th 2014<\/p>\n After a rainy night we drive to the next info center, because supposedly the McKensie Falls are closed because of the bush fires. It’s true! But we still want to know how bad it is up there and drive up to the point where the road is closed. Already on the way up there we see scorched trees and burned tree trunks lying around everywhere. Only the road is a border for the fire. We meet a park ranger, who explains to us, that the bush fires are still at the falls and that the fires can keep on going inside the trees for up to three months.<\/p>\n Then me, my cousin and two of her friends, which came to Halls Gap for the day, go to the Silverband Falls, that we at least see a small water fall.<\/p>\n By coincidence we see an old-timer show in Halls Gap, which is a nice alternative to the falls.<\/p>\n After that we go to the zoo, where I can finally see a koala and feed kangaroohs and then we drive to Warrnambol for the night.<\/p>\n Monday February 17th 2014<\/span><\/p>\n The morning routine once again (packing the tent, shower, breakfast) and then we’re on our way to the Great Ocean Road. One stop after the other. Lots of famous bays and look outs. Every one has its own story. We drive from bay to bay and talk about sailors and make up stories about them. We have a longer break at Loch Ard Goch, where we went for a walk and explored a little cave.<\/span><\/p>\n Then we drove to the Twelve Apostels and got into our swimming suits. The people passing us all looked at us and I heared a few shocked voices: Are they going swimming there?<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
\nEarly in the morning, at least for my cousin, we drive towards Ballarat. About two hours later we arrive at Sovereign Hill. 45$ isn’t quite cheap, but we’ll see if it’s worth it. Once we’re inside a troop of soldiers in old-british fashion, armed with bayonet’s marches past. Then we start panning for gold. Just grab a pan work your way up the creek.\u00a0We argue, if not every tiny bit might be gold, but then the girl next to us told us: „when you see it, you know it!“, and two minutes later her friend found some gold. I am less lucky, or less patient :P. We are taken back into the year of 1850, where we learn how it must have looked like back then. The first gold nuggets were found lying on the ground and then one thing followed the other: mass immigration, corruption, revolution, new beginning and then mass migration to a new gold field.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
